After four singles recorded for Pye Tony's record contract was not renewed, but he soon got a new chance. CBS (Columbia in the USA) became interested in pop / rock music, so they signed Tony with the Vibrations, renamed The Tony Jackson Group. The first single for the new company was called You're My Number One b/w Let Me Know. CBS 202039, release date was January 1966. The A-side was written by Peter Cowap who later made some singles in association with Graham Gouldman. On the B-side Tony and two of his band presented their first original. Unfortunately the single didn't chart. |
